Sorry

Hey. Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I have been very busy. This weekend I went for a beach clean-up. Which is another easy, fun way to help, It's the little things that count. All you do is grab a suncream, sunhat beach clothing plastic bag and rubber gloves and your ready to go. Another fun activity is to go to Green point park, a great outing out. But enough chit chat. This post is about whales.

As many people around the world know, the sport know as whaling has become quite popular. This has lead to a serious decline in whales all around the world. Normally when considering ‘status’, one is interested in (a) where a population is now compared to where it was originally and (b) where it is going in the future. In other words one does not only need information on present abundance but also on trends in abundance. The importance of long-term monitoring cannot be over-emphasised and further details of monitoring and how we can achieve it for cetaceans can be foundhere.

Oil and water do not mix,
this oil slick has no quick fix.
The dark black goo not only affects me and you,
but SEA LIFE in our OCEANS too.

We must STAND UP for all LIFE under the SEA,
or there won’t be any left in our ECOLOGY.

Save the OCEANS and save the SEAS,
or the SEA CREATURES have no DESTINY.

This oil mess was made by greed,
we must take the LEAD
in cleaning up the GULFSTREAM.

We must STAND TOGETHER all of as ONE,
as one people UNITED under the SUN.

This is our PLANET that we all SHARE,
with other LIVING creatures
WHO need our LOVE and CARE.

We must pray for the sea’s mammals, fishes and BIRDS too.
We must all PRAY TOGETHER me and YOU.

Save the OCEANS and save the SEAS,
for the SEA CREATURES to have a DESTINY.

Save what is left of our planet

As the human poulation explodes out of control, some might say that the answer to our radical problems lies in draconian solutions.

How to help

Dear people of South Africa

It has come to my attention that water is a precious resource and even though there are a few water savers out there, there are not enough. We all need to try and participate in saving our recourses; after all it is our country.
Water is essential for all life on earth. Water makes up 75% of the human body. 97% of the earth’s water is in the ocean and not drinkable, 2% is frozen, 1% is fresh and most of this is difficult to get to.
Apart from drinking water to survive, people have many different uses for water. Such as:
·        Cooking
·         Cleaning
·         Washing (their bodies, cutlery, crockery and clothes)
·        For fun (swimming pools, water slides, etc)
·        Watering their gardens and plants.

It is important that the water is clean and free of germs and chemicals. 780 million people lack clean water. Disease caused by germs and chemicals can find its way into water causing many people to be sick and die. A lot of water is not clean and has chemicals in it.  This is costing the country a lot of money to test the water and to purify [get rid of impurities (germs and chemicals)] it.
If we don’t pay attention to how much water we are using we will run out of water.  Right now we may not run out of water but in years to come there will be a huge shortage. There are many ways to save water; just look up on your computer and there will be a whole list of things you can do to help.
When I was taking a marine biology course I saw all the pollution that is going into the water.  If you don’t want water to run out, stop polluting it.
Water is not only important to us it is important to the plants. If the plants don’t get water they will die and stop producing oxygen so we can’t breathe.
We use water to put out fires, for toilets and for businesses. Lots of people have a job in the water industry. Access to water is essential to ensuring the health and well-being of humans and the protection of nature. Water is also essential for the healthy growth of farm crops and farm stock and is used in the manufacture of many products.

I think if we built huge solar power panels to warm up sea water to purify it so when the steam comes up you catch it through pipes and when the steam touches the cool pipe it will instantly turn into clean purified water.
The problem is that when we take out the sea water we are using up the sea creatures habitat and it will cost a lot of money to build the solar panels. Water is a precious resource to lots of animals as it is their habitat.  Many animals live in the water such as fish. Elephants use water to cool down and penguins rely on water as a home and food source. The ice caps are also a home to many animals such as polar bears.
You may feel too lazy to save water but imagine life without it.
Water is a precious resource, look after it for years to come.
A friend

Hi

HI

I'm a ordinary girl living an ordinary life, as most of us are. But doesn't everyone want an adventure now and then. This year I was a lucky girl in my school that got to get accepted to take a full course right here at the VnA Waterfront at Cape town's amazing aquarium, and the minute i got home I new I wanted to be a marine biologist. It was amazing working with and helping theese spectacular animals. I of course wanted to help more I mean it is us who harmed theese animals and if it is our problem we should fix it.
